Ever since its launch earlier this month, there have been long lines at Apple stores around the country, in part because of the unexpectedly cumbersome process of activating the new phones.
Apple is now opening its stores an hour early, at 8 a.m., and hiring extra help.
Apple has also had dozens of bugs in its new Mobile Me service and has issued several apologies.
