The San Francisco Fire Department sent 22 firefighters and five engines to Los Angeles County Saturday.
The teams geared up for the trip at 19th and Folsom Streets.
"All the firefighters that are going have all been trained in wildland firefighting. They all have their own wildland gear. You know what we've seen the last couple of days, there have been a lot of homes have been burned. We'll most likely do structure protection, which is really our forte," said Frank Cardinale with the San Francisco Fire Department.
Strike teams from San Mateo, Alameda, and Marin counties are also helping out in Southern California.
Cal Fire is also providing five strike teams.
