The collision involved two vehicles and was reported at about 2:40 a.m. just south of Edgewood Road on Highway 280, according to CHP Officer Pacheco.
The San Mateo County coroner's office was contacted shortly after 3 a.m. because of a fatality at the scene of the crash, Pacheco said.
A Sig-alert was issued at about 3 a.m., according to Pacheco. The Sig-alert was canceled at about 4:55 a.m. when the lanes were reopened, according to CHP Officer Marc Johnston.
