Police sweep up truant students

ANTIOCH, CA

Officers from the Antioch Police Department were paired with probation officers and went looking for students who were cutting class, police said.

Child welfare social workers, attendance personnel from the Antioch Unified School District and employees from REACH Project, Inc, a substance abuse prevention program for teens, counseled the 17 students.

The students were then cited for truancy and returned to class.
