Richmond police on Saturday afternoon received information from a friend of the suspect, Chet Turner, who said Turner may have killed his girlfriend in Sausalito within the past two days, according to Sausalito police Chief Scott Paulin.
Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sausalito police responded to a home at 501 Bridgeway and knocked on the front door.
When no one answered, they entered the home and found Turner's girlfriend dead in a bedroom, Paulin said. His girlfriend reportedly appeared to have sustained violent injuries that led to her death.
Sausalito investigators then requested Richmond police to check on a possible location for Turner, at 2017 San Mateo St. in Richmond.
Turner was detained in Richmond until Sausalito investigators arrived. After interviewing with Turner, he was arrested on suspicion of homicide.
Anyone with further information regarding the homicide is asked to call Sausalito police Detective Brandon Rodgers at (415) 289-4118.
