The victim was suffering from major injuries when he found lying in a parking lot directly below the overcrossings of Interstate Highway 280 and state Highway 87 around 10:40 p.m. Saturday, according to San Jose police Lt. Rikki Goede.
He was taken to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition today, Goede said.
A preliminary investigation revealed Damariz Michi was driving a blue 1995 Dodge Caravan from southbound U.S. Highway 101 to northbound Highway 280 when they stopped at the northbound Highway 280 connector to southbound Highway 87, accordin to Goede.
The victim then exited the vehicle and as he began walking away, Michi allegedly struck the victim on purpose before driving away, Goede said.
Michi was arrested Monday night and booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, Goede said.
