More Randon Thoughts

EPLisa, here. Time for more random thoughts on Hollywood headlines.

John Salley has savvy when it comes to winning. Now, he's giving himself a competitive edge on "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" Salley has four NBA championship rings with three different teams. As camp leader he was able to give one contestant immunity and Salley didn't hesitate to give it to himself. He joins Lou Diamond Phillips who won immunity this week. The pair will be safe tonight as two more celebs get the ax. I might watch this show now that Speidi is gone - and Salley is staying (for now).

Jane Fonda has a new left knee. She was a little wistful about it. Before Tuesday's surgery she blogged about it with a post called "So Long Old Knee." Fonda wrote that it would "be sawed out and in its place will go a titanium rod and ceramic joint." She was a little wistful about everything she and that knee had been through, writing it had been "a strong, faithful knee." She said it helped her "up a lot of steep mountains and across rugged terrain." You go girl!

Billy Joel and his third wife Katie Lee are divorcin. The pair said that they remain "caring friends with admiration and respect for each other." They got married five years ago at Joel's mansion on New York's Long Island. This was the Piano Man's third marriage, her first. She is just 4 years older than his daughter, Alexa Ray. Don't go changing Billy, you're fans will always love you! You'll find somebody worthy of your greatness someday!

Until next time,

An Angry Scowl

Good morning, it's me, Marc. It's a rainy Wednesday, June 17th, 2009.

I get e mail and phone messages about this topic all the time. If you've ever looked at my biography page on ABC12.com, you'll see a picture of me. In that picture, I look anything but happy. I actually look quite mean and unapproachable, as if someone had just stolen my lunch money, and shoved me into a locker (it happened a few times in the 5th grade).

Anyone who knows me can assure you that I am NOT that guy! I'm a happy, friendly, and chatty person (too chatty at times!). The good news is that a NEW picture is coming. We were supposed to have a glamorous photo shoot in the studio today for several disgruntled ABC12 employees, but unfortunately, it has been postponed. That's too bad, considering that I spent 3 hours posing and practicing my smile in front of a mirror last night. I have issues with showing teeth in pictures (I have many other issues as well). I prefer to show off a sly, devious grin instead.

Sorry to say, though, until our photo shoot is rescheduled, you'll have to deal with the ugly mug and frown currently on display. Despite that look, I can assure you that my family is great, my job is going well, and my dog is still alive. Looks can be deceiving, and yes, everything is FANTASTIC! Thanks for your concern!

Seeya tomorrow.

Random Thoughts About Hollywood

EPLisa here

I'm going to shake the blog up a bit and just talk about some random entertainment headlines.

Former supermodel Janice Dickinson had a super upset stomach. She had to spend a night in the medical clinic on "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" She was taken away by ambulance on last night's episode. The docs told her she likely had a virus and couldn't keep any food down. But the next morning, Janice was back in camp after a night of getting intravenous fluids. What's good for Speidi is good for Janice, I guess.

Carnie Wilson has a new daughter. She gave birth to a girl in Los Angeles on Friday. She and her husband, Rob Bonfiglio, have named the baby Luciana Bella. They have another daughter, Lola Sofia, who is 4. Yes, I am a closet Wilson Phillips fan.

Get inside "Weird Al" Yankovic's head. A new attraction called "Al's Brain" will debut at the Orange County Super Fair in Costa Mesa, California, on July 10. It's a 3-D movie about the human brain written, directed by and starring Yankovic. The attraction will travel to other fairs, festivals and science centers. All that is left to say is WTHuh?

Until next time!

Extended nap time is back!

June 15, 2009

My 2 and a half months of living the good life returns today! My daughter, Maddie is finally off from school, and my wife, Allison, who happens to be a teacher, is also off for the summer. While it's great that I can see them when I get home from work every afternoon, I actually have a more self involved reason for being so happy. It's quite simple, and I'm proud to admit, quite selfish: I no longer have to set my alarm clock to make sure that I wake up from my afternoon nap.

Typically, my afternoon consists of a mad dash once that alarm starts blaring, and a scramble to make it to the door before the bus driver shows up to deliver my precious cargo (yes, I am referring to my first born as cargo). Too many times, though, Maddie has been forced to lean on the door bell for 2 minutes until she is finally able to wake me from my deep slumber. By that point, the bus driver has one finger on speed dial, and is ready to contact Child Protective Services. Fortunately, I've always managed to unlock the door just before that call goes out.

While it might sound like I neglect my children from time to time, it shouldn't be overlooked that I performed the good deed of the century Friday afternoon. As I pulled up to my house, I noticed that a baby bird was stuck in my garage and couldn't find a way out (here's a hint, Einstein: Try the large open space made available by the garage door being up!). I demonstrated that I am a friend to all animals and spent a good hour and a half chasing that bird around my garage until it finally made it's grand exit. And yes, I sacrificed my nap!

Despite the fact that the Red Wings lost in Game 7 on Friday night, it was a fun weekend all around. Saturday night, we got together with some friends for dinner at Soyla's in Downtown Flint (great chicken tacos and nachos!), drinks at Blackstone's, and a quick trip to the Torch. If you haven't spent a Saturday night in Downtown Flint, it's definitely worth checking out.

Sunday, the fam and I made a run through the Flint Art Fair, and had the pleasure of running into Mr. and Mrs. Giles, proud parents of our EP Lisa Ray. I asked them if they had any concerns about their daughter's fixation on Donnie Osmond. In response, her father just rolled his eyes. I think that pretty much told the story.

Looking forward to a great week, and can't wait to catch 4 new episodes of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!".

Seeya in the morning.
