Lawmakers are considering a bill that would reduce California's prison population by 27,000 inmates. It would do that by cutting sentences for property crimes and increasing home detention.
The bill has already passed the State Senate. Some republicans have said the /*Dugard*/ case shows the dangers of releasing prisoners early.
Bill supporters say it is not the type of case that would come up for an early release.
