Three people were pulled out to sea while swimming in the ocean near Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. There were 8-foot swells in the area at the time, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Two of the swimmers were able to get back to shore and called 911. A third was stuck clinging to rocks surrounded by water.
The National Park Service, the Monterey Fire Department and the Coast Guard responded.
A Coast Guard helicopter located the stranded swimmer and hoisted him off the rocks. He was given medical treatment and was said to be in stable condition.
