The teachers cast their ballots on Monday and the results were made public late Tuesday afternoon.
Their union is locked in a dispute with the Oakland School District over wages and class size.
The strike vote does not mean there will be an immediate walk-out.
In fact, talks are set to resume later this week.
Teachers went on a one-day strike last Thursday after the school district imposed a contract on teachers last month. The two sides have been negotiating for two years.
The district says it faces an $85 million deficit and cannot afford the pay raises and class size levels the teachers want.
