Officer Brian Miller was turning around at a gas station on U.S. Highway 101 at about 10:55 a.m. when he saw Maurice Rucker, who he recognized as being wanted in a robbery in Sonoma County.
Miller attempted to contact Rucker, but the suspect took off toward Highway 101. Rucker was passing vehicles on the center median and the right shoulder of the road while driving more than 90 mph, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
Rucker attempted to take the East Washington off-ramp, but he hit a guard rail and came to rest on an off-ramp.
He was taken into custody and then transported to Petaluma Hospital and treated for minor injures.
Rucker was released and booked into jail on suspicion of felony evading, driving on a suspended license and multiple warrants for robbery and various other charges, police said.
