The teachers have also agreed to five furlough days and an increase in health insurance co-pays. Class sizes will also increase.
The East Side Union High School District, which is the largest in Northern California, says the concessions are a good start, but warns three other school employee unions.
The district needs to close a nearly $20 million budget deficit.
