An officer near the area of Chanslor Avenue and 16th Street heard multiple shots fired at about 10:45 p.m., police Lt. Johan Simon said.
The approximately 20 shots fired on the 1600 block of Chanslor Avenue triggered the ShotSpotter, a system that uses microphones to identify the origins of gunshots and alerts police dispatchers.
Officers responding to the scene discovered three victims inside a home at 1621 Chanslor Ave., where a graduation party had been under way, Simon said.
Although the shooting happened outside, a 26-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and woman of unknown age were injured inside the party, he said.
All of the victims sustained minor injuries and are expected to recover. One of the men was shot in the lower leg, another sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand and the woman was shot above one of her knees.
Two of the victims were transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals and medical technicians treated the third victim at the scene, Simon said.
Police recovered several different caliber casings at the scene and concluded that multiple firearms were used.
A fourth partygoer was so shaken by the shooting that she suffered a seizure, Simon said.
