California lawmakers don't get a raise this year

SACRAMENTO, CA

Wednesday, an independent commission voted to keep pay for rank-and-file lawmakers at $95,000 a year.

Senate and assembly leaders earn slightly more.

Last year that same commission voted to slash legislators' salaries by 18 percent -- with the state facing a multi-billion dollar deficit.

Most lawmakers also receive a $140 per day stipend for living expenses, along with a monthly car allowance.
