The retailer says for the first time in its history it will be opening Thanksgiving morning from 7 a.m. until noon.
Sears is following the lead of its sister store, K-Mart, which has opened on Thanksgiving for more than 10 years.
Sears says it is also expanding its holiday layaway period to 12 weeks from eight to give customers more time to pay.
