PG&E will examine 150 miles of pipelines in its system that are similar to the one that exploded in San Bruno in September 2010.
The lines will be filled with water to see how much pressure they can safely handle.
Lines in Antioch and Mountain View will be among the first to be tested.
PG&E says neighbors might smell natural gas when the pipelines are emptied.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn on Mahogany Way.
