According to insurance estimates and government records, the U.S. has been hit with five weather disasters that have cost the country more than $1 billion each in 2011.
There were $3 billion disasters in the month of April alone. Tornadoes, flood and storms have resulted in an unusually high costs because of their severity and because they hit populous areas.
