The West Contra Costa School Board voted last night to rescind a closure order for Shannon Elementary School, something parents have fought hard for.
District officials had previously said they couldn't reverse the school's closure because the decision to close was made two years ago when the district was under state control. It would cost more to close the school and re-assign students than to keep Shannon open.
Parents fought hard to keep Shannon open. The district said the state could still reverse their decision.
