St. Sen. Joe Simitian's, D-Palo Alto, bill is aimed at increasing breast cancer detection. Senate Bill 173 requires that following a mammogram, people with dense breast tissue be informed that it could obscure abnormalities, such as cancer, on a mammogram and they may want to discuss additional screenings with their doctor.
The bill passed the state senate last week.
