A vehicle apparently struck a tree along southbound U.S. Highway 101 near the Marin County Airport at Gnoss Field at about 1:20 p.m., CHP Officer Marc Johnston said.
One person in the vehicle was killed, Johnston said. The Marin County coroner's office is responding to the scene.
A second person is reportedly trapped in the vehicle and has been seriously injured, Johnston said.
No southbound lanes were blocked at 1:45 p.m., but traffic was beginning to back up behind the scene of the crash.
