Initially, the voluntary recall involved 90 carts that were shipped to an Oregon food service distributor.
The State Department of Public Health said on Friday it is now working with True Leaf Farms to verify the distribution of the produce in question.
Health officials say most of the lettuce was sold to California institutions such as restaurants and cafeterias, and only a small amount went to retail on other states.
