British researchers looked at MRIs of the brains of 125 college students who frequently use Facebook. Those students with more online friends tend to have more grey matter in the part of their brain linked to social skills -- like pairing up names and faces.
Researchers are not sure which came first: whether larger social networks cause more grey matter, or more grey matter causes larger social networks.
