The city commissioned a study to determine the best way to improve pedestrian safety after 6-year old Sioreli Torres was fatally hit by a car in September, while walking to school. It happened at Bay Road and Gloria Way. The study's author is recommending school crossing signs, pavement markings and parking restrictions, but not any stop signs. Residents had signed petitions asking for a stop sign. The city council will take up the issue at next Tuesday's council meeting.
