Thomas Langenbach, 47, is accused of stealing some $900 worth of Lego sets by switching barcodes on the boxes.
The San Carlos resident was arrested May 8, outside a Mountain View Target store.
Investigators say Langenbach may have made up to $30,000 selling the Lego sets on eBay.
He works for software maker SAP.
His next court appearance is June 20.
