Students at Sun Valley Elementary School in San Rafael made a YouTube video urging the company to recycle the half-billion markers it produces each year and make them with more recyclable materials.
An online petition drive has generated 60,000 signatures.
Crayola says it already uses recycled plastic bottle caps and solar energy, but welcomes new ideas.
