The fire broke out in Fairmead Park around 12:15 Thursday afternoon. It burned about two acres near the campus of Highland Elementary School.
Nobody was hurt and the flames never threatened any homes.
Richmond's fire chief wants to remind residents that using fireworks is illegal in Contra Costa County.
