Approximately 120 firefighters responded to the fire that started at around 10 a.m. on the first floor of the residential building. Some residents believe the fire may have started in a bathroom.
An 84-year-old woman who lives on the fifth floor was transported to St. Francis Hospital. Her son told ABC7 she is being treated for smoke inhalation.
The 500 block of Leavenworth Street will remain closed until early afternoon.
