The California Highway Patrol says the broken-down truck was left in the fast lane on southbound Highway 101 near the Poplar Avenue exit, where four cars crashed Sunday morning.
One person died and a second is in critical condition. So far, the owner of the abandoned truck has not been cited or arrested.
