Women who keep food journals lose more weight

A new study shows that women on a diet who kept a food journal lost six more pounds than those who did not write down their food intake. Researchers say knowing what and how much you're eating affects behavior.

Other factors linked to more weight loss include skipping meals, which is not generally considered healthy, and eating in more frequently.

The study is in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
