CHP releases more details about Lynch DUI

OAKLAND, Calif.

At about 3:20 a.m., a CHP officer was driving north on Interstate Highway 880 when he saw a white 2012 Ford E-350 van weaving in and out of its lane.

After witnessing the van nearly run into two other northbound cars, the CHP officer pulled it over near 67th and Shellmound streets in Emeryville and identified the driver as Lynch.

Lynch allegedly showed signs of intoxication and performed poorly in field sobriety tests, and the officer arrested him on suspicion of DUI, according to the CHP.

Lynch was cooperative and was taken to the Oakland-area CHP office for a breath test, and the result showed that Lynch had a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit of .08 percent, CHP Officer Hector Baiza said.

He was then taken to jail where he was booked and then released after about two hours.

Lynch graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, where he was the second all-time career rusher, running for 3,230 yards in his time as a Golden Bear. He signed a four-year, $31 million contract with the Seahawks last March.

Alameda County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Teresa Drenick said the office is reviewing the case and will make a charging decision by the time Lynch is due in court on Aug. 14.
