ABC7 News has reported there have been charges of faulty investigations into incidents of patient being harmed and inadequate care, including a story ABC7 News broke along with media partner, The Center For Investigative Reporting, that patients had been attacked with a Taser at the facility. That resulted in one staff member being fired after he was found with a Taser in his car. No charges have ever been brought against him or anyone else.
Decertification means the facility will lose all of its Medicaid funding, which provided the bulk of its money. A health department spokesperson says the facility can appeal the decision to decertify and will be allowed to stay open while that appeal is underway.
