Study: Moderate alcohol use raises cancer risk

Alcohol use accounts to about 3.5 percent of all U.S. cancer deaths every year. A majority of those who died consumed at least three drinks every day. However, the study found that people who consumed 1.5 alcoholic beverages daily were also at high risk of death.

Researchers aren't sure how alcohol contributes to cancer.

The study appears in the American Journal of Public Health.
