Beyond the Headlines

Show topic: Child Abuse Prevention

BEYOND THE HEADLINES
March 24, 2013
Child Abuse Prevention
Hosted by ABC7's Cheryl Jennings

In this week's episode of "Beyond the Headlines," we take a look at a heartbreaking subject that touches nearly every community in the United States: child abuse. It occurs in all ethnic and cultural communities, across all socioeconomic levels, within all religions, and at every level of education.

According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the United States has the worst record of the industrialized nations, losing five children every day to abuse-related deaths.

We'll hear from community leaders who are working to put a stop to this horrendous trend. Katie Albright and Molly Jardiniano of the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, Debbie McCann of the Children's Interview Center, and Victor Rivers, actor, author, and child abuse survivor, join us for this week's episode of Beyond the Headlines.
