The victims, a 63-year-old Burlingame woman and a 62-year-old woman from Belmont, were walking south along the western sidewalk of El Camino Real when they attempted to cross at Hillside Drive at around 5:50 p.m., according to police.
As they entered the crosswalk, they were struck by a 2003 Toyota Highlander driven by an 18-year-old Burlingame man, police said.
The teen was attempting to make a left turn from northbound El Camino Real onto westbound Hillside Drive, according to police.
The women were taken to Stanford Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. The driver was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation, and the driver is cooperating with police. Burlingame police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them at (650) 777-4100.
