There is serious smoke, fire and water damage in the kitchen and in a utility room.
The bakery has been open for 61 years and has very loyal customers.
At about 2:45 a.m. fire officials received a report of a fire at the bakery on 203 E. 18th St., near Athol Plaza. The blaze burned the inside of the building on the first and second floors. The fire was brought under control by firefighters at about 3:35 a.m.. The business was closed at the time.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
