John Sears, 65, was given a citation in San Bruno on Monday. It was for violating a law prohibiting cattle or horses within the city limits.
"Our whole life is spent together. We've been doing this, you know, for thousands of years. I belong to that energy, that place. And we're not going to quit just because some city puts itself down and spreads asphalt and starts making all these laws and these rules of exclusion," said Sears from 3mules.com.
Sears, who goes by "Mule," said he would try to convince the judge he and his mules are a national, living, moving monument, and as such, deserve special dispensation.
No word yet from the court or Sears on what the judge said about that plea.
