A survivor who abandoned her home spoke Sunday about the lasting impact the fire had on her family.
"For many years after, our oldest daughter nine years old at the time slept with the light on," fire survivor Sue Piper said.
The fire broke out on October 19, 1991. It claimed the life of 25 people and destroyed over 3,800 homes.
It caused an estimated $1.5 billion in damage.
Crews took 72 hours to get the fire under control.
