SWAT team surrounds Santa Clara home searching for suspect

SANTA CLARA, Calif.

Officers responded to a home in the area of Eisenhower Drive, off of Lafayette Street, at 8:55 a.m. today after receiving a report of a burglary, Santa Clara police Lt. Kurt Clarke said.

They arrived and spotted a suspect, and began chasing him through yards in the neighborhood, Clarke said.

"At this time we believe we have him associated with a particular residence on Eisenhower," Clarke said at about 1:30 p.m.

Homes adjacent to that residence have been evacuated, and other neighbors have been told to shelter in place, he said.

No injuries have been reported, Clarke said.

The Police Department's SWAT team is at the scene, and streets are closed in the area of Eisenhower and Burke drives, he said.
