The peppers are being grown by Ed Currie who, as of December 26, 2013, holds the title for farming the spiciest peppers -- ever.
Currie calls them "Carolina Reapers" because of the punch the peppers pack. Guinness says a batch they tested registered at nearly 1.6 million Scoville heat units.
For comparison, a regular jalapeno pepper registers about 5,000 Scoville heat units. Pepper spray weighs in at about 2 million.
