The first event of the season will take over the Embarcadero from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. between King Street and Fisherman's Wharf.
Sunday Streets, a city-sponsored free event that shuts down several blocks to cars, allowing residents to walk, skate, bike and play in the car-free streets, will return to the Tenderloin neighborhood next month and continue in a different neighborhood each month through October.
Attendees are encouraged to stop at booths set up along the route on the northbound side of the street and visit key spots at Harry Bridges Plaza in front of the Ferry Building, Fisherman's Wharf, Rincon Park, South Beach Park and Mission Bay Park.
Other featured locations on the route include the Exploratorium interactive science museum at Pier 15, AT&T Park where the Giants play, and the tourist and family-friendly destination at Pier 39.
The 3.3-mile route will be closed to motorists and cars cannot park in the area. Several San Francisco Municipal Railway routes, including the F-Market and Wharves street car line, will be affected.
