Homicide detectives still looking to interview people associated with the two men found shot to death in a close knit neighborhood.
The sadness of the neighborhood is expressed in a small memorial outside a townhouse on Marlene Court in South San Jose.
A sign says "Rest in Peace Kevin. You were a great neighbor." Police say two men were killed by gunfire Sunday night. Neighbors heard the shots, but no one called 911.
"Maybe there was a game or something or, yeah, Cinco de Mayo or something that they just, like the fireworks. But really not in my wildest dreams I thought it was like gunshots or something," said neighbor Soma Chatterjee.
A neighbor says Kevin's girlfriend discovered his body inside the home along with the body of her ex-husband who was suffering from terminal cancer.
Police say both men were in their 50's and had at least one gunshot wound.
Officers are not looking for any other suspects and believe they were the only people involved in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
A neighbor says Kevin was a nice man. He leaves behind three daughters. Detectives are trying to determine what exactly led up to the shooting.
"We are talking with people who are familiar with the two decedents. They were known to each other, so again I'm sure there's a lot of information that has been provided to detectives. And so they're kind of working through those details before they go ahead and kind of make a final determination," said San Jose police spokesperson Albert Morales.
