Vigil held for popular Peninsula bus driver killed in Texas

SAN CARLOS, Calif. (KGO) -- A vigil was held for a popular school bus driver in Redwood City who was shot and killed in a random attack in Austin, Texas.

Tanika Moultrie, 30, loved being a school bus driver. So much so, she even competed in a state school bus rodeo where drivers compete on things like parallel parking.

Friends and coworkers decorated her beloved bus Sunday night. She drove for the Sequoia Union High School District.

Moultrie lived in San Carlos. She also grew up in the South Bay and went to Woodside High School. She was in Austin visiting her fiancé's family. The pair would have gotten married this fall, but Moultrie was shot and killed at random while out at a popular entertainment district. A gunman opened fire killing Moultrie and injuring four others.

"Just seeing her come to work, seeing her after work, we used to hang out all the time after work. I'm just going to miss her as a person, you know? Just having her around," said John Stockman, close friend.

Moultrie's brother also spoke with ABC7 News from Las Vegas. He describes his sister as someone who absolutely loved her family.

Austin police are still searching for the 24-year-old gunman.
