High surf advisory in effect until Saturday

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A high surf warning is in effect at Bay Area beaches, which means rip currents and possible sneaker waves.

Signs were posted all along Ocean Beach warning about rip currents through Saturday.

Thursday's warm weather made it hard to resist having a bonfire on the beach with the warm wind-free air. Some people even tested the water.

"We were just out in the city and decided it would be fun to just go down to the beach and take off our shoes and run through the water," Ana Bettencourt, a Turlock resident, said.

"The water was like the perfect temperature, cooling but like so warm feeling," Mariam Pourman, a Turlock resident added.

Two surfers got caught in rip tides Thursday morning at Dillon Beach in Marin County. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department helicopter had to pluck one man from 8-foot surf. The other made it back to the beach on his own. Both were OK.

The bottom line is that people on the beach should be extremely cautious and careful over the next few days.
