Santa Rosa brew voted best beer in the US

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Beer fans across the country have voted a beer brewed in Northern California as the best in the nation.

Readers of the homebrewing magazine "Zymurgy" picked Pliny the Elder as the number one beer.

Pliny the Elder and its popular counterpart Pliny the Younger are brewed in Santa Rosa at the Russian River Brewing Company.

The Elder is a double IPA with citrus and floral flavors. The younger triple IPA was named 28th best beer.

Two Lagunitas beers brewed in Petaluma also made the top 15.
