ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- Starting Friday, Caltrans will close the 29th Avenue Overcrossing that provides access across Interstate 880 between Oakland and Alameda until October 2016.
This closure will allow crews to complete the demolition of the existing 29th Avenue Overcrossing and construction of the new one.
The 19-month project will also cause frequent night time and full freeway closures in the area, with occasional on-ramp and off-ramp closures to remove the current structure.
Warning and detour signs will be placed to help re-route motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
