Two lanes of Bay Bridge closed overnight for repair work

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Two lanes of the upper deck of the Bay Bridge will close Saturday beginning at 10:30 p.m.

The middle and near-right lanes on the western span will be closed until 8 a.m. Sunday so Caltrans crews can begin replacing deteriorated expansion joints.

This is the same ongoing work that backed up traffic last month when Caltrans used steel plates that slowed down traffic. Caltrans is not using those plates anymore.

Repair work is expected to take ten to 12 weeks.
