WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) -- Walnut Creek police are asking people who may have used the restroom at particular Starbucks to give them a call after they found a camera planted inside.
Many customers are reacting with disappointment and disgust after learning that a Benicia man has been arrested for planting a video camera in the restroom, not just once, but twice in the past two months.
Walnut Creek police arrested 35-year-old Jacob Turner at his Benicia home.
A store employee found a camera attached underneath the sink in the unisex bathroom. It had been recording for about 90 minutes between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
"This is a big invasion of privacy. We believe people who have been caught on camera have a right to know if they've been caught on camera. And they have an opportunity to see justice get done," said detective Gabe Mauro with the Walnut Creek Police Department.
Police believe Turner also planted a camera in the same restroom in February. That one was discovered when it fell on the bathroom floor.
According to neighbors in Benicia, Turner has lived with an older couple on Oxford Way for just a couple of months.
He remains in a Richmond jail on $65,000 bail.
