REDDING, Calif. (KGO) -- CHP officers to our north are being hailed as heroes after a daring high-stakes river rescue in Redding.
A man and woman had to be plucked from the Sacramento river Tuesday night after their boat got stuck near a dam.
The CHP helicopter had to be called in after firefighters tried to reach the couple but were unsuccessful.
This part of the river runs through the heart of Redding, so the pilot had to carefully navigate around power lines and nearby bridges and several homes and businesses, as they pulled the boaters from the chilly water.
