LaGuardia flight delayed when crabs escape cargo hold

NEW YORK -- You've heard of "Snakes on a Plane." Well, in real life, there are live crabs on a plane.

Although US Airways did not confirm the exact problem, several passengers tweeted about the announcement made on board.

US Airways Flight 890 was scheduled to depart LaGuardia Airport in New York at 6:59 p.m.

According to ABC News, the crabs were collected and the plane took off, arriving in Charlotte about half an hour late at 9:30 p.m.

According to a statement Thursday night from Joe Freed, a US Airways spokesperson, the flight had a "25-minute delay with some seafood cargo problems."
