East Bay residents may see increase in water bill

OAKLAND, Calif. -- East Bay residents could soon be asked to save more water and pay more for what you use.

The East Bay Municipal Utility District is looking to charge customers an average of $4.33 more a month because of the drought.

EBMUD says it may need to pump in water from the Sacramento River to meet demands.

Customers could also be asked to voluntarily cut water use by 15 percent.

Officials meet Tuesday to discuss it. They say the plan could be scaled back with more rain.
